What’s my story?

It’s all about the MUSIC – LIVE MUSIC!

Hi! I’m Andrew and welcome to Music for You.

I know I’ve possibly only got your attention for a few seconds, so here’s a whistle-stop profile in as few words as I can manage.

Me – Andrew Jones
Occupation – Professional musician (trumpet player and conductor) for 25+ years
History – Playing since I was 7 years old – OK, if you must know, that’s over 45 years
Training – Studied at the Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff
Home – I’m based near Cardiff, in South Wales but travel all over the United Kingdom and sometimes further
Venues – I’ve performed at Sydney Opera House, Symphony Hall, Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall in London to name just a few
Name-dropping – I’ve played for Her Majesty The Queen and most of the Royal Family, performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cory Band and Sir Karl Jenkins and accompanied Dame Kiri Te Kanawa
Claim to fame – I performed the “Last Post” at the Millennium (Principality) Stadium in Cardiff to 72,000 people and a live global TV audience

Here are just a few things you’ll find me doing in a typical working week

Playing processional music to announce the arrival of the Bride at a Wedding Ceremony
Entertaining a hall full of schoolchildren in an educational Concert with the Welsh Brass Trio
Getting party-goers dancing to the sounds of Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller, with the Phil Dando Big Band
Performing the “Last Post” at an ex-Veteran’s Funeral Service
Heralding the winners of an Awards Ceremony or the arrival of a VIP for a special event, with a Fanfare
Stirring the passion and emotion of every Welsh rugby fan, with a rousing rendition of “Land of My Fathers”/”Hen Wlad fy Nhadau” at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with the Regimental Band of The Royal Welsh, before each Wales Rugby International fixture kicks off
As well as playing with the Royal Welsh, I am the Band’s Recruiter and help and advise interested parties who want to join the Army Reserve as a Musician
